Currently, in India, the citizens suffer from multiple infectious diseases. Compared to other countries, India ranks as one of the lowest in terms of health care infrastructure. Even though India has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, the nation still suffers from harsh diseases. India already has a weak healthcare infrastructure, there are many other things that make the situation worse. For example; a high population density that makes diseases spread more easily. The government of India is already creating a program to help control the spread of epidemics and infectious diseases. There is the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP), launched by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Despite this attempt, the program has failed to adjust the healthcare infrastructure.
There are many countries that had very controversial opinions for what India is doing and what needs to be done. China and multiple other countries seemed to believe that India did not spend enough of their gross domestic product (GDP) on their health care system compared to other countries. India responded by saying that the nation needed to spend their GDP on other problems that they believed to be more important. For example, India believed that they need to spend more money on providing housing. India pressed this issue to other countries because they knew that they did not have the money to increase the budget for the health care system and that they need international aid. India fully understands that they lack the health care facilities required to improve their health care system.
Other solutions were proposed by many countries. The United Kingdom has stated that they believe that both long-term and short-term solutions are needed to bring India out of their series of infectious diseases. The topic of education and awareness of the epidemics as suggested by multiple countries as it would come with long-term effects. Countries like Russia, Germany, and Luxembourg believed that education was needed in order to let the people be informed about the usage and effect of antibiotics and vaccines. However, on the other hand, many countries like France and Ecuador believed that funding will be the best and most efficient way to improve India’s healthcare infrastructure. They claimed that education is too slow and that if money is funded to provide India with the facilities they need and maybe get them to live in a cleaner environment than India will be improved at a faster rate.
