The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is guided by Thailand to cluster ideas for a resolution to the problem of the rise of persecution in Southeast Asia. Persecution of individuals within the Southeast Asian Nations has risen due to ethnic, religious, and political differences between groups.
Countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia dominate the discussion, with a clear sense of organization and timeliness as they announce their points. Thailand owns the room, congratulating the delegates for their work and collaboration so far, and in turn urging all delegates from the Southeast Asian Nations to participate as their position in the Association.
“Please join in the discussion,” said Thailand.
In response, Vietnam spoke out about education programs in order to help all individuals in the participating countries to understand each other and not feel antagonistic towards their peers because of ethnic, religious, or political standing. According to the delegate from Vietnam, an educational program would assist in decreasing the “mistreatment of indigenous groups and minorities.” Malaysia supported the delegate from Vietnam, adding that community programs can provide access to community education programs, and encouraged committee members to widen the scope of their range of solutions.
